I am meant to be on Heron now, but unfortunately, a few weeks after paying the balance my Girlfriend became ill, so obviously, things like Carp have to take a bak seat! Some things are just that bit more important! Good news is she's doing great so thts the main thing. And it least I never went to the expense of buying loads of bait to end up leaving it in the shed!
All being well, I think I'll try and get out there in Novemeber for a few days at least.
The guys I was going with are in Peg 16. I believe they've had a few to 45 (common)
Maybe Shoulders will wait until nov for me!!

Sorry guys problems with my computer in the last couple of days.
We fished peg 9 from friday 7th to monday. It looked great for a bite on the friday when we arrived and the weedbed to the right hand side was fizzing away all through the evening, however i had a couple of single bleeps during the night but no solid takes.
The rest of our stay produced two takes but lost both fish in the weed! Most of the fish were sulking around the corner from 11-14 in my opinion as the rest of the lake had a fair amount of pressure from all angles, only one guy on his own was fishing round the corner and he rested his swim in the day (good angling!). It was a strange few days as me and my friend decided to fish together but in hindsight i think we may have had too many lines in the water (even though we rested the peg everyday from 1pm to 4.30pm).
Although we didnt manage a fish i still absolutely loved the lake and am itching to get back as soon as possible, hoping maybe to pop out for a couple of days in October if i get the chance! The staff (esp the baliff) were fantastic and all of the guys we met around the lake were very helpful and friendly.
Cant recommend the place enough, fantastic venue that i will definietly be visiting agin in the very near future!

Better luck next time chap! And.. Nice to hear some positives about Hans for a change, he's trying his hardest but it takes time to build up a knowledge of any venue and Abbey has 5 (fair sized) lakes to learn about!! Not sure he'll ever work out how the ovens work though, lol, but if you'd sampled my grub then you'd probably be pretty chuffed he was manning the kitchen nowadays

Hi mate,
Heron's started to fish really well after being a bit slow at the tail end of August.. Fox has been fishing very well for quite a while now, as has Attila. Kingfisher has also produced some lovely fish up to mid / upper 40's to those that have targeted them.
Best take a good quality (sleeping) bag with you though, day time temps are still fairly high but it's been a tad chilly at night!
Aside from that.. Scroll down to find all you should (ever) need to know about the Complex, it's not rocket science matey, just approach it exactly as you would your regular UK water(s) but with big hooks and strong line!
I defo wouldn't use Fluorocarbon and I'm not a fan of Braid as despite all it's plusses, it has some quite serious cons too!
You shouldn't have to cast or 'boat your baits out more than 95yds from any swim on Heron either, so a decent standard UK set up will suffice too..

I was just looking to gain a little info on the lakes. I'm going for a week next month. Has anybody got any idea which of the lakes predominately fishes the best during the autumn months? Do the carp have a tendency to sit on the front or the back of the wind as it gets colder?

ALL the lakes tend to fish very well during the cooler months as they are far deeper than the average French waters and therefore hold their temperature for a while longer than most. This means that the 'winter feed' period once the temps are around 7-8C lasts well into JANUARY.... If the past few year's VIP ticket records are anything to go by!
If you're after a steady stream of 40+ fish I would recommend Fox lake, if you're willing to tough it out for a winter whacker then look for the deeper areas and/or thickest weedbeds on Heron. Attila is another that's always well worth a shout as even when everywhere else is shutting down, the Carp in there'll feed and feed and feed some more!! They're not of the same stamp (yet!) but with an average weight of 28-33lb and an awful lot of 40's, it's definitely worth a shout, especially if you're trying to save a blank on either of the other main lakes or just want to bag up while everyone else is sat at home dying of x-factor boredom lol!
Finally, can't recommend P5 on Kingfisher lake enough.. It produced well over 75 fish to a whole bunch of us during late december and the first week of january this year. It pays to fish short and just feed little and often to keep the Carp in the area.

There isn't too much else to worry about there though, there are no true snags to speak of (they were removed many moons ago) and the only proper Mussel bed I can think of is between Pegs 3 and 4 on Attila
Steer clear of the 'naked' fluoro approach though.. Asking for trouble, especially with the size of those fish!!
