they'll be given to people who are being supported by Crisis and those who have been temporarily homed in hotels.

most of us take for granted being able to just speak to a friend or family member. it's a little thing but a good thing

Mal

Totally agree with this being a good thing

But not meaning to demean this gesture but if they are being housed surely there must be landlines at these premises to be used. It is just giving them an asset that will be bartered, sold or stolen. Having dealt with the homeless many have drug, alcohol issues and a lot of them don't want contact with families, friends or companions.

How did they survive/live before CV and why didn't she promote this then. These will be basic phones with a £10 card probably so big headlines showing she cares for an outlay of possibly £1000 but its probably still more than the Bransons and Ashleys of this world!

Sorry this is supposed to be a good news thread

Hiya mate

I can see where you are coming from but we can't assume that all homeless people are going to sell whatever they have to feed a habit - even if some might. Otherwise we'd fall into the trap of not helping anyone...

It's going to help some people and for that it's a thumbs up

stay safe

One of the junkies that patrol the local Sainsbury's picking up fat butts scavenged half a benson some lads chucked on the floor earlier. So they gave him a rizla and minuscule nugget of weed, he looked made up!

I've never seen mal but I don't think he's black with a nervous twitch wearing a torn puffa jacket and stained beanie hat in the midday sun
Never a dull moment round here

Hi Sir B,

You mean Justin Hawkins?......really......but can Mal sing in falsetto?

Hi All,

Just to report that Tom Moore has just done his 100 laps with a guard of honour from the Yorkshire regiment, his old county. As I write, the donations have just passed, wait for it.......£12.3 million. Incredible and the money keeps pouring in.
Capt. Tom has become an icon, a rallying call for people all around the world to focus their desire to help and try and make a difference. They see that old soldier wearing his medals, still trying to serve his country and it spurs them to join in.
I bet in the future, the name, Capt.Tom will become a metaphor for generous acts..

In the US, Lieutenant Dan, the war wounded character from Forrest Gump has become a huge icon for the support of the US military, gold star families and first responders.
Gary Sinise, the actor and musician who played him, formed the Gary Sinise Foundation, which has become an enormous enterprise and formed the Lt. Dan Band, which travels the US and the world where US troops are stationed and play close to 100 concerts a year. Part of the Foundation is the Snowball Express to help Gold Star children who have lost a parent. Every year, they take about 1750 of them and their mothers to Disneyland Florida for 4 days and give them the time of their lives. It's incredible what Gary Sinise has achieved and is all documented on U tube with loads of videos.
Take a look, it's really inspirational. The man's a legend.

BB.
