I'm sure Crays would be the ultimate bait for French carp.... If there weren't any other Crays in the lake
If you use them, best to make sure you wrap the bodies/tails in bait armour or something similar otherwise they'll be gone in 2 clicks of a pincer lol!!

No problems fella..
Just another quick update for you all, Jason Brain has just returned from his week on Heron and has kindly written up a little piece for us which can be found to begin with on the Angling International FB page and a little later on our website inc. pics.. I won't spoil it too much but he did have back2back 50's!
On that note, I am currently trying to keep abreast of what's what at Abbey and if any of you want up to the minute info on goings on over there then you should now be able to find the latest catch reports, weather checks, pictures and a few extra tips n suggestions as well as the stuff I previously wrote on here on the same Facebook page, my apologies but rather than write everything in triplicate it's easier just to put it up on there as we have a worldwide audience!
Ian and I are trying to take Angling International to the next level now and provide a service that no other holiday company currently does....
We have just released a range of custom built rods that are probably the very best available in the UK right now (even though I say so myself lol), these are however designed with very specific uses in mind and each individual rod serves a purpose, so it's best to discuss your needs with us directly before deciding which one may suit you! We are also seeking to promote the VDrone range of bait boats within the UK market further, so keep your eyes peeled for their latest (baby) offering when it hits the shelves in the near future. Alongside all of this expect to see 2x dedicated rig packs for Abbey, these will contain all the necessary bits'n'bobs to construct the rigs that our friends and us have found so successful over the past 12 years, some crafty hookbaits aimed at tackling the crays in Fox lake, a dedicated bait range that's exclusive to AI and designed specifically with the Abbey fish in mind and 1 or 2 other tarty bits, watch this space.... On the Facebook page obviously!
Regards,
Ru
PS There will also be a monthly competition starting shortly and in return for your catch reports, pics and short stories, we will be awarding a prize based on what we feel is the month's most deserving capture. This doesn't necessarily mean the biggest fish either, at this time of year a good haul of smaller fish can be seen as a serious achievement and anybody catching Bruno will probably get my vote! Prizes for this will vary month to month but shall probably be 5-10kg of pellet, a goody bag of end tackle or a free food package for your next visit, etc.... Tight lines!

Hi Jez,
Both Heron and Fox are fishing their bits off over the past month or so!! Blows my 5-10 Carp a week is good theory out of the window as the current average seems to be nearer 20 a piece on the 2 main lakes! The bigguns all seem to be laying low now, although White tips n the Grey lady came out of Heron late last month. I think 'tips was 60+ again which is nice as she's now a fully paid up member of that club, 5 of her past 6 captures are over the magic figure! My ol' mucker Lee (Merritt) had the Grey at 57.08 from Heron and then jumped on to Fox and bagged up, see AI's Facebook page for the pics.. Rob Hughes took a mate over and fished Fox too, they had a bag full as well! A guy called Kristian Ollington popped his Abbey cherry last weekend with 20 odd fish up to 42 in 3 days on Fox. Another mate of mine, John Sayers, did Heron with his mate Shrek the first week of June and they hammered it from 15/16, taking nearly 50 carp, biggest was Single scale at 54+.... The Dutch are flying (pardon the pun) over there lately too, I know Mario Taal, Yuri and Erik pors have all had some cracking fish, again, the pics can be found on the Facebook page..
That's about it as far as I'm aware, I'm no longer involved with Ian so just hear dribs n drabs as they happen from a few close friends. In truth been sticking my head in the sand as I'm gagging to get back over there but haven't got the time right now so trying to ignore everyone else's success lol!!

Morning guys,
Heading over to Abbey (Heron) in september with a friend and have a couple of questions for the abbey experts..
I currently use the harrison ballista slims 12ft 2.75 (which i love) but am having concerns regarding the power of these rods after hearing about the weed problems on Heron. Will an upgrade be required?
Also i have access to a bait boat (best friend) with an ECHO on board, would you guys reccomend taking this again due to the weed on Heron?
Thanks again
Billy
P.s the fully scaled in the pic below is a beaut!

I fished heron last September. Ur rods will be fine just make sure u drop the lead so the fish r up, the weed was bad but mainly a massive bank in the margins, the top end was little worse. Bait boats handy but not a must. I'd say a rowin boat is more needed if there allowed this year for gettin fish out the weed

Iggy how many did you manage last year and how long were you there for? We arrive on the 7th of Sept for four days, i have a rowing boat and bait boated already sorted (thank god).
Did you fill it in with bait, i have been told to fish 3-4kg of pellet and boilie over each rod and top it up after every fish.. pretty standard i think.

I was booked on to heron but when we got there it was really packed, I decided to do 3 nights on Attila and had 16 fish to 34lb then move to fox for 2 nights as there was space and managed 1 nice mirror jus over 30 but it's full of cray fish as well, I did my final 2 nights in peg 2 on heron and managed a mid 30 common, I used my boat and fished bout 2kg pellet and boilie, only managed 1 fish from there but had 5 30's from 3 of the lakes, would of loved a 40 but who wouldn't, hope u guys do well,
RU on here will pretty much tell u anything u want to know, listen to him he knows the lakes as much as any one
