My name is jason i fished fox in sept last and my mate john (noddy john lol)and paul fished heron we had your cheerios loaded up and was looking foward to hassling you again !

alright steve,its andy,nicks mate.i was on the kingfisher, swim 1(red vivaro).nice fish them,did well considering the weed.i ended up with 9 up to 44 08.stunning carp.if i had a degree in astro physics i would put some photo's on here myself.......

What lake at abbey did you catch them?
Off there on thursday for 5days fishing heron this time just scanning forums to see how its fishing .
Every little bit of info when your off abroad helps fished fox last sept was a bit slow , but 3other mates fished heron and had a great week one had bruno out bottomed his scales out at 60lb didn't realise until the morning ( gutted) and got labeled noddy john by Rupert(ru12 forum member).

Hi guys. Im fishing heron lakes in september and finding it daunting already. Can anyone give me any helpful hints and tips. Is it a water where the bait is humped in or is little and often the best option. Are crays a problem in heron? Any information would be really appreciated.

Look further down this thread or jump on to the Angling International / Abbey Facebook pages and you'll find as comprehensive (swim by swim and tactical) a review of Heron as I'm prepared to give anyone lol! The one thing I can't comment on is how you approach them bait wise.. Some weeks they'll be troughing it, others they'll just want bits'n'pieces.. The age old addage that you can put it in but you can't take it out is a decent starter!
IF you're going to hump it in then I suggest that the bulk of your baiting over your spots is done with pellet and boilies are just scattered across the surrounding area.

PS There are only 2 spots in Heron where you'll get punished by the Crays and these are both worth avoiding like the plague during the hot weather! Handily the first spot is in the margins of the often empty Peg 7 by the reeds to your right hand side. The water here is very shallow compared to the rest of the complex, 3-6' as opposed to the usual 12-18' elsewhere. The second area is just off the end of the spit of land that makes up Pegs 15 and 16. You are no longer allowed to fish from the end of this but it is still possible to swing a sneaky rod 'round the corner' on to the gravel strip that runs past 2-3 rod lengths out in 7-9' of water.... DON'T BOTHER LOL.. Your 20 millers'll look like whittled down 4's in next to no time!!
