BLM I'm sure began as the A variant, as a slogan.
It's huge funding, media presence and mainstream politicisation is what differentiates it from ALM and where there is money, there is corruption and deception. Rather than just a subliminal pinning of your colours to the mast..
I don't like the name of either, certainly not now. It clumsily or subliminally indicates and stirs division which causes the very argument you are all having. The problem for the B boys is that A have hijacked the better slogan that could've stood for unity, coexistence and blindness to colour..
Instead, it becomes the latest incarnation of right/left political ping pong with points scored each time their corresponding media channels unearth something juicy.

I like Pfaff Du Plesis' recent words on BLM and blindness to colour, the South Africa cricket captain until recently.
Du Plessis acknowledged that his comment earlier this year, in which he had said the team did not see colour - when talking about Temba Bavuma being dropped from the Test team - was naïve. "I have gotten it wrong before. Good intentions were failed by a lack of perspective when I said on a platform that - I don't see colour," he said. "In my ignorance I silenced the struggles of others by placing my own view on it.
"A race problem is a human race problem, if one part of the body hurts ,we all stop, we empathize, we get perspective, we learn and then we tend to the hurting part of the body. So I am saying that all lives don't matter UNTIL black lives matter. I'm speaking up now, because if I wait to be perfect, I never will. I want to leave a legacy of empathy. The work needs to continue for the change to come and whether we agree or disagree, conversation is the vehicle for change."

What I don't get is why it is a response to BLM...as pointed out, adopted by neo-nazi and white supremacy groups when they go to counter BLM protests.

What do you reckon the owner of a cotton or sugar plantation would've said had you asked him if ‘black lives matter'
The slogan/name itself is open to interpretation and why some people that need a nudge to identify the pile of beans with 5 in it can get offended.
We can talk about it until the cows come home but some folk ain't changing
As with most idiots the best solution is often to stand shoulder to shoulder against them, rise above retaliation with your head held high and move on together. You can't change society in an instant, suggestions of police force abolition etc. is nonsense. Everybody knows, it's just fuel on the fire.
What doesn't help is the football lout brigade and civilian armies like in Brixton.. they're both divisive and intimidating.
We just have to coexist with these unpleasantries unfortunately.

I'm not questioning his motives or saying that he is incorrect mate. I just think as soon as black or all lives matter become dragged into quotations or arguments it opens up the same debate over every individual's (those reading the quote, not saying it) interpretation of each abbreviation. The misunderstanding of who's life matters is the definition people are struggling to define. I was nodding along with everything he said until I read ‘black lives matter‘ because it really goes without saying, we needn't label another division between cultures/races.
Some discussion is obviously better than none, but things are usually taken the wrong way where race and/or religion is concerned and it snowballs to handbags

I've been a fairly regular visitor to SA since 92 and believe me I understand why he's used those words. The fact still is from my personal experience there's minorities that don't equally value others because of their skin colour. So it needs saying, especially in context being a SA cricket captain.
I do understand where you're coming from but it's the readers simple problem to solve if they have an issue mate.
