Still cheaper to buy them in Europe, and have them posted!

That's who I bought mine from,they arrived in the UK within three days.The delivery was quicker than something I ordered from a tackle shop over here

Just be aware that you could be hit with import duty and vat etc.

I've now done 4 orders with them, the biggest being about £2k... Haven't paid a penny extra.
As it happens, They are due to deliver something tomorrow, so I'll see if that's also the same.
On the bottom of their order page, it states:-
"No import fees or duty will apply for UK delivery!"

Well spotted guys, they do indeed specifically state that they do add / take the uk vat charges so nothing more to pay
Back on my consideration list the shop goes

Is there an issue with the line guard on the latest mags as im a member of a technium group on fb and there are tons of people who have had problems with the line guard.

👍🏻i was quite shocked at the amount of people who were having problems. The general consensus was that the latest mags were the worse ones yet. They seem to keep going down hill with each new variation. The last ones i owned were the xtb which people seem to think were the best ones but i didnt really rate them.

No way are the XTB the best Techniums, I had them and had problems with the spool clicker falling out, line guard not doing its job and the Baitrunner Spool was terrible. I changed the spool caps for the Ultegra ones and changed all the chrome for black, made them almost as good as the XTC but for the line guard.
I've currently got the 14000XTC and would say they're the best Techs I've had, I've owned and used 6 different models now starting with the Originals.
Interesting that the current model hasn't really dropped in price since launch, don't see many of them on the bank either, I wouldn't buy them as I don't like the new body shape.

All my carp reels are daiwa as i love my daiwa reels. The only shimano reels i own are two of the latest version shimano vanquishes which i bought for spinning and a floater rod but im yet to use them but the feel superb.

My mate Jody got 3 XTD when they first came out and he DID have the issue which put me off buying them.
@Shane24. I've never had those issues with my XTB. I was the second customer to get them in this country so I've had them a while (RIP Erics Angling!)
I then bought 3 more as spares and they've been fine.
A week or so ago I bought another 3 but I've not used those yet. If I were the gambling type I'd stick £20 on them being fine as well.
I'm not dismissing the issues you point out as I'm sure they happened to users in the past, but never happened to me.
I avoided buying the XTC when I saw them in Erics @ Farlows (when they first came out) as they looked too plastic compared to the XTB.
Something echo'd by the groups on Facebook, but then there will be those that don't like the plastic silver bits on XTBs, they can get a bit fingerprinty until wiped clean again

I've now had my XTDs for a couple of months (and I fish 2 nights most weekends) so feel I have used them enough to comment on the known line guard issue.
I have had this issue once and it was 100% user error that would have happened on all other Shimano models which feature the same line guard, e.g., the latest Ultegra models and Power Aero.
I had a small amount of slack which had fallen off the spool ever slightly and the line guard did its job stopping it falling under the spool but I reeled without seeing that and it forced the line guards out of the grooves. They are quite loose in there, as are the other models I mention. So this same issue would have happened with those and I have seen that first hand with my cousin's Ultegra XTE.
That's not to say it's a non-issue because clearly they are rather loose in the grooves and I'd expect them to be a little more robustly fixed, not to mention better made... it's really thin and cheap-feeling plastic...
Besides that I've not had any problems and the line guard serves its intended purpose very well. My biggest gripe with the 20 Basia was line coming off of the spool. All lines (mono and fluoro) did this and the lack of a line guard meant that most of the time it required me to remove the spool to tidy it up. I'm very OCD about my line management and so it's always clean and I almost-weekly remove twist so it should not have been the result of my own carelessness. The XTD does not have this problem and on the odd occasion line does come off through user error rather than a trait of the reel, the line guard means it's zero faff.
Compared to the 20 Basias I came from, they're a better reel in every sense in my opinion. Of course, none of these reels are worth their price tag and the Ultegra XTE is just as good in the real world for a fraction of the price.
