I've was just thinking I've had the same rig on one rod for three sessions now (no captures on that) hook is still sharp so have no reason to change it other than OCD!
Do you guys have fresh rigs for every session or do you tend to leave them on?

I change my rigs after every fish, take them home and decide later if they need sharpening or changing.
fresh rig or hook after each fish/session for me mate. i have a little maggot box i use as a graveyard for all my used so when i get some down time on the bank i just salvage what i can and re-use any tackle and re-sharpen any hooks i can.
but in all honesty it depends on what water your fishing if its runs water then yeah same hook again along as its sharp but on a pressured syndicate i couldn't take the risk id be kicking myself if i lost one due to not putting on a fresh rig/hook.

Leave them on and check them next time, maybe a quick sharpen.
If you've caught on a rig why would you want to bin it if you know that it works?
I only bin rigs that are faulty and even then I salvage parts that can be reused.

If the hooks still sharp and the rig is at it should be (no kinks, twists, damage) then there is no need to change. Why would you? You'll only be putting together the same as you've got.
I generally change the rig/hook after each fish l, depending if. I what rig I'm using and where I'm fishing

Mine are changed every time they're reset and checked if it takes and usually does more than one cast.

Only change when needed, use multi rig a lot so changing hooks is easy but again only if needed, always check and fettle the point each cast. Can't understand the change it every fish , just a waste of materials and a marketing ploy imho, we don't change main line after each fish.

Same as Audi, only change when duff, always check every time it's brought in or after a fish, I've had 4 fish on one hook, used it the next session and still caught on it. I guess it's all about confidence, and filling the pockets of the suppliers

Change mine every session or fish. Confidence thing, i'm sure the rig would be fine but for the less than a quid a rig consists of, i'm happy to change. most anglers sit behind £000's of rods, reels, alarms etc, seems silly to skimp on the bits that do the business!

I leave my rigs on at the end of a trip, although I check them every cast anyway.
I have caught numbers of fish on the same hook. I had a 26lb mirror at Merrington, that same rig accounted for another 5 fish at my local, until I burred the point on an overcast hitting a tree branch, when I changed it.
Even now on the reservoir the same hook often catches more than one fish. The fish is landed, the bait and point checked and then it is recast to the same spot.
Next session I check the hook and then find 'the spot', and that same rig is often cast out there.
As others have said, reason to change, the point is not as sharp as it could be.
However as soon as I change a rig, I cut the swivel and rig ring off, and the hook goes into my metal recycling storage, a tin can.
The hooklink will be recycled into hair material.

Change my rig every fish and session, Chuck them in a old pva tube and will break down the components to see if I salvage anything but will only use a hook once.
Change every cast. Sometimes even change after I've changed just to make doublely (sp) sure...that I've changed. Anymore than 3 times between casts is just mental [shrug]

How very embarrassing, I've had the same rig on one of my stalking rods for at least two years and had had umpteen fish on it. One of my main rods has had the same rig on for about four months now and landed a few fish. What a Noddy I am.
I, like most change my rig as and when i think its needed....that could be after a few sessions or 1 cast if the hook has burred or i feel the hook length is not right / damaged.....
Unlike most I don't leave my rods set up after a session and all my rigs are stored on my rig board.... i also re use as much of the rig components as possible on redundant rigs....
I also don't pre-tie any rigs, (other than ones previously used and are deemed good enough to re-use).

I'm the same, I've got a few 8 foot zigs that I've had for a bout 5 years they sill get used about 3 or 4 times a year. The bottom rigs stay on my rods until they are goosed, or been resharpened a few too many times... I would guess the longest I've had a rig stay on a rod would be 6 months plus.

Nothing to do with being a noddy, for the fact of around 50p I would rather have faith I have a new hook on and not a blunt one.

One of my rods still has the same rig on it I was using in France last July.....hook still super sharp.
I've got loads of rigs made up ready in my box but if it ain't broke, dont fix it.

It varies. I sharpen my hooks eveyr cast on an easier water so they tend to,rust. So need replacing.
Plus hooklink material. If its a co polymer i like it can go springy. If its esp coated braid thats bombproof.
So my local club where i cycle to for short sessions, use coated braid and dont catch 😂 could stay on the rods all year......

I've always found the sharpened hooks on the market rust qr because they have been sharpened and too my there a one fish/session hook.
I but sharpened hook I can't be bothered too go too the hassle of touching them up every time.

I remove my rigs when packing up, inbetween sessions i check the rigs and re-sharpen as required. I keep using the same rigs unless i suspect something wrong or the hook is knackered.
