Got rid of it on my phone now..
I opened carpforum in Chrome and then disabled JavaScript.
Took twenty seconds.
Now for the laptop.

But "Adblock" will get rid of it. I'm using WIN 10, Google Chrome with "Adblock" as an extension

I use FireFox with adblock permanently on and rarely get any annoying messages.

Does this happen because it's not a secure site so easily hacked? I know it's been hacked this year as I had one of those demanding pay Bitcoin scams which showed me the password I only used on here!!! Just a word of warning guys.

You have to ask yourself who profits from this?

Advertising is sold based on the click-rate of the site.
What took 1 click now takes 4.
Quadrupling the apparent site traffic overnight must surely make the site more attractive to investors?

Come on Karlos, own up, we know "the truth"

@Keebs: I'm afraid you're talking out your bottom and haven't thought this through at all. Why would I put something in place to annoy users? The pop up should ONLY appear once when you first visit the site. It was put in place to adher to GDPR rules when they came in. Once you've chosen to accept/reject certain cookies that should be remembered and not annoy you again.
The people/company who supply the GDPR code/plug in changed the code yesterday (the code is grabbed from their site, it's not something I control/edit). Their new code is obviously flawed as it's not remembering what you/I chose on the pop up.
And as for wanting more advertisers/money....I don't need money. I have a good job working in Financial Services and more often than not I ignore emails from companies wanting to advertise as I can't be bothered with the hassle of it all!

@daveman: Once again a little knowledge is dangerous! Whether a site is secure (HTTPS) is irrelevant to whether or not it can be hacked. HTTPS simple encrypts the data going to and fro, it does not thwart a hacker from getting into the site. I would disagree with this site being hacked, how come you are the ONLY person to have this? If hackers had obtained passwords surely there'd be lots of other people telling me similar to what you have said below. Also, why wait until now to say something? Why didn't you inform anyone (ideally me) at the time?

P.S. I am trying to fix this, but not very easy on my iPad as I can't see the source code easily. I would use one of my computers to sort it, but I am at hospital having chemo at the moment so a bit limited as to what I can achieve.

@Keebs: Sorry if I missed the joke.
I am annoyed at the ShareThis team (which provide the code) for not emailing their customers to say a new version was being thrown out there (so users of their code could test the new version)
Also annoyed their code is poo and causing this grief.
Also annoyed that (from what I have read in this and other threads) users would rather believe I do this sort of thing to annoy them or make a few pence!

So, that put me in a bad frame of mind!

Excuses over, I think I have found the code I needed to edit and I've done what was needed.

I'll try to keep an eye on this (and similar threads) to see if people agree it's fixed.

Hopefully the code will NOT be cached in peoples browsers. If it is, a hard refresh (Control-F5) should get shot of it

Regards,
Karlos

Glad the annoying popup is fixed

Chemo: I'd put a post in the MOD area a while back letting them know I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on March 18th. My consultant said it was treatable and I didn't put anything on Facebook etc as I only told people about it that I thought my be offended if I didn't say something and then they found out!

I had my second PET CT scan on Thursday 28th May and my consultant came to see me at my 5th Chemo session on Weds 3 June. He said the scan showed the cancer has completely gone, and I am in remission
I still have to do the next 7 chemo sessions (12 in total which they term as 6 rounds)
First 3 chemo's went well, the last 2 I have had to dive out the car on the way home to make a pavement pizza (nausea). On Weds I didn't quite get out the car in time

Thanks for the PMs I've received since the chemo mention below...much appreciated.

Great to hear you are in remission, Karl. I guess worrying about catching Covid must have played on your mind as well. Tough on you and yours I am sure. I wish the world was a kinder place to live these days but hopefully you can take a bit of comfort from the fact that so many Forum members are wishing you well.
