My mates recently bought the compact version, he used it for the first time last weekend and rated it highly. He said it's as good as the much more expensive aqua bags we had years ago.

Used mine for first time at weekend...pretty cold night. Standard size, very warm, didn't need thermal cover.
Very easy to move around in compared to my fleece lined armotex 5.
The bag warms up very quickly , and does not feel heavy even with the two top layers.
I never zip my bags up either
Very pleased with it and for the price a very decent bag I reckon.
Certainly one to look at if after a new bag...especially if any black friday deals available 😊

I have one, had it since they re-released them to a more manageable length. So far, I rate it highly.
I fish every weekend, weve had a couple of frosts and its been toasty. I have taken the inner insulating section out as its been far to warm to use it in its complete, designed layout.
Now the heavier frosts have arrived, I may put the thermal section back in if the frosts continue. Just too warm other wise.
Materials great, zips are good, heavy duty and flow well when trying to escape under full run mode.
So far, lots of positives,zero negatives.

Sorry, no help to the OP, but I have had the OLD Carp Duvet from Gardner for almost 20 years and it is still serving me well. If this is the sort of quality Gardner produce, then the new one will last you well.

I find the 'shoulder baffle' on the bottom (bedchair) side annoying.
I also have no idea why the extra winter bit only goes down as far as the knees. It's not like we all suffer from hot feet all winter.
Nevertheless, I'm still happy with mine and won't be forking out for another
bag any time soon.

I didn't like the shoulder baffle thing either.
I'm 6'4" and it was digging in my back on the lower part so I took it out...just made a small incision and pulled a sausage of insulation out...problem solved.
I think it's a great bag...I have always previously had bags/ systems with fleece linings but I'm a convert to nylon now...it's the best bag I have ever used.👍

The shoulder baffle give me the same problem, was worried about cutting it out thinking that the rest of the padding might somehow be attached. Will be removing mine after reading this. Otherwise great bag.

I had a look at one a while back but decided to do the job properly and purchased a fortis.

I did buy one and was really impressed with the quality. However I did return just because it was too large for my needs.
Great bit of kit if you need a big bag. Think the compact may be the one for me. I see there is a big weight difference between the two bags 5Kg and 3.5kg.
Not off to France until mid September so plenty of time to choose one

Very happy with the fortis.
Currently using in 3 season mode and it packs down very small.
Easily worth the extra money for the use it gets and will get over the next few years.

I had the same problem. I rang Gardner and explained the problem. They sent me a bigger bag f.o.c which solved the problem. I think some bags were sent out in the wrong bag to begin with.

Yes I bought the same and had the same problem. Tried everything and the bugger wouldn't go back in. I'm sure some were packed in the wrong bags. Give Gardner a ring. I've always found them to be very good with after sales service. One of the better brands out there imho.

I blew my top and gave up with my stuff sack and binned it and bought the gardner waterproof bag to put it in which is spot on.
do people use the stuff sacks?? I keep mine on my bedchair permanently.
just ordered the compact,the nylon inner sold it for me..managed to pick it up for £100 which I was quite happy with

spoke to gardner,they said just keep on practining putting it away or leave it on the bed chair..keeping on the bed chair isn't really an option when I use a Nash knx bed chair for a titan hide, unless I take off that bag built in..which is shyte by the way..but wanted it left on for a bit of extra comfort..no real drama ill nip off down camping direct and get a over size bag from there.no carp tax added..

That's disappointing, I really thought Gardner would sort you out. Perhaps they have no spares left, what with deliveries coming in late. Everything from China seems to be in short supply at present.

Inspired by your modification I took mine out this morning. Absolute pain in the arse On mine the insulation was stitched all the way along, so I could pull out a maximum of about 2 inches at a time. Took ages, but should be more comfortable now. Well made bag though

Great bit of kit for me, about as good a carp fishing sleeping bag as your money will buy. Doesn't come anywhere near the ecu modular sleep system for warmth, but there isn't an angling inspired sleeping bag out there that ever will. Good bag for the money, I'd recommend.

From memory I think I'd did come out in two or three pieces but I managed to get it out of the original hole I made.
Worth the effort of fiddling about for a few minutes because it's a vast improvement imo👍

Bought the compact version (Its still massive) of this and used it for 4 nights So far. . My god its warm with the extra layer in. Superb piece of kit.. down side the stufff sack is poor. Ive stuffed mine back in but the stitching is already going on the seams..
Can anyone recommend a replacement bag for it. To live in.

You've been using it with the winter layer attached in August?
You must wake up a stone lighter in the morning.
Mine lives in the bedchair from September till June, then it's in the garage.

Haha Yes used it without the Inner Last week but last night in the Lashing Rains and storms i left in it but it was Still to hot so had it unzipped.
So still need a bag for it.

I bought a gardner waterproof carry bag for mine plus one and fits in perfect. The only downside is the bag i 1 meter long when the bag is in it, so its not very compact. It was very reasonably priced as well at £22 and very well made.

I have found the perfect bed combination for me,wychwood tactical x standard size,sim underneath a gardner carp duvet compact...absolutely perfect set up as i like a firm bed.
