I want to start carp fishing and i have no gear whatsoever!! Can anyone help me with some stuff I have no idea where to look and what to look for its a minefield!!

Have you set yourself a budget and are you likely to fish both days and nights or one or the other? What sorts of venues might you want to fish?
I'm guessing most will say buy cheaper or 2nd hand gear until you know you'll like CF. There's lots more choice and quality at cheaper prices now, so it doesn't have to be expensive.
When I started I quickly compromised with long rods and bigger reels because I couldn't afford multiple set ups, worth giving that a thought. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Everyone will give you 30 différents brands, you dont need that much gear to start carp fishing : decent rod and reel, few bankstick, bite detector if you feel it necessary (it wasnt for me)
Better to focalize about what matter first : watercraft, observation, seasons and carp habits
