Place I'm fishing I want to put a chod over the weed so I've picked up some spliced leadcore leaders to give it a try. Also these super buoyant popups everyone uses today needs a lot of shot to pin down, so figure this will sort that too.

Thing is, I can't remember what knot is best to use to tie on, is it a palomar or needle knot?

Cheers

Since they are already spliced a needle knot would be an odd choice, if we are talking about the same knot that is, but quite sure we are. Even loop in loop would do, palomar, uni whatever you feel certain with.

Do the same. You can simply take off inline leads or change to anything else like leadclip or run rig

I always used to tie them on with a blood knott and stayed away from a "loop-to-loop" connection.

When i started fishing solid bags, the quickest and easiest way to change them was of course loop-to-loop, so i tried it... and landed fish, so i kept using it....

Now, I have leaders setup with your 3 main lead arrangements, leadclip, heli/chod & running, and if i ever want to change them, all i have to do is slide it off and slide the desired one on.

Figure of 8 loop knott, its so easy to tie and i have never had it break on me.

Thanks hadn't thought about using a figure of 8 loop. Never failed on a rig and easy to tie.

I've always used a 5 turn grinner myself, small and strong, never let me down.

Hi all,

Apologies for a very base question, I've not used leadcore before, and just wanted to be clear on the loop to loop knot discussed here.

Are we talking about:

01) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3YBTzr5iDI

or

02) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfMUG_cj_8A

I am assuming 01.

Cheers all.

The lead core I got was already spliced so had a loop in one end.

In the mono, I did a figure of 8 loop - see here

https://www.anglingtimes.co.uk/advice/rigs/how-to-tie-the-figure-of-8-knot/

Then threaded through the lead core like the first link below
Are you sure?
