If there is bottom weed, such as silk weed, the horrible green mat like stuff, you don't want the line digging in to it, I'd go for a less dense line and try to keep the line off the bottom until the last few feet. Maybe tips up and tight lines.

I like fluoro but I don't find it the one for old silty lakes. It sinks into the bottom and picks up all the crud.

You can get away with a lot on a silty old estate lake, the water may look clear but it will dirty up when the fish start digging. I'd just use a decent dark coloured (might make no difference) mono. 0.43 Touchdown in brown was my choice and did me fine.
