Fishing a new water absolutely stuffed with tench and Rudd, so I want to use a slightly stiffer rig so the bait can re set when it's getting picked up, they are ravenous I had a nightmare with them blowing my tubing round the hook shank. I've got some 20lb amnesia so going to try a few d rigs out. I've got a couple of questions, firstly does anyone use on a leadclip or more commonly on a helicopter setup ? Also straight or beaked point hooks ? I've got some size 5 chod hooks in beaked and straight just undecided which to go for. Cheers 👍

Beak or straight depends. I would use straight unless fishing snaggy and or gravelly spots then use beak for those 2 scenarios.

Is it a rig you use yourself mate ? How you find the hookholds etc ?

I would suggest a turbo German rig, purely on the basis that it largely reduces the randomness of where a stiff D-rig can take hold in the mouth.
It resets just the same, with the same stiff hook link, just the addition of a spinner swivel with no ring while giving the luxury of changing hooks in a pinch.

Hello mate - I use D rigs a lot and typically on helicopters with straight point TA out-turned eyes in a size 5. I think the rig is at its best when fishing over firmer silt, so find a straight point hook to be fine in those situations without fear of dinking the points. I'm not one for sharpened hooks so would happily use them over gravel too with plenty of success over the years.
On lead clips, there is enough suppleness in the 20lb amnesia to follow the contours of the bottom. That said, for my own peace of mind, I'd extend them by an inch or two and definitely use putty along the link to ensure it lays flat. Whether you knot the link down to a swivel or a loop, I would recommend using steam to neatly bed it all down.
