Is it ok to hook a golf ball size mesh bag of pellets onto a ronnie or is it asking for trouble?

I do and never have had any issues I also use ronnies in pva bags on a short supple hook material, and caught as well my theory is they come down and scoop that pile of bait in and it shoots up into their mouths and swirls around as they turn they get hooked.
Are you sure?
