I'm currently building up my Carp gear after a very long layoff. Thought I'd ask here for some pointers so that I don't buy a pile of terminal gear which I'll never use. Things have changed quite a bit since I was Carping over 25yrs ago. :-)

I'm looking for suggestions regarding a few rigs so that I can buy the components to just make those rigs to get me started as opposed to guessing and buying the all the wrong stuff. Making the rigs up won't be a problem for me as I've been fishing for the best part of 50yrs and so I have plenty of experience when it comes to tying knots/hooks etc etc.

I'll be fishing a fairly deep (16ft-20ft) disused gravel pit and by the looks of the sonography which a guy has done, it's a bit like the Pyrenees under the surface with various hills and troughs all over the place. It's an old pond which is now mostly silt with the odd gravel bar to be found. The margins produce but are quite well littered with old twigs and branches due to overhanging trees all around the perimeter of the place.

Suggestions I have from a mate are a fluoro d-rig and a blowback rig. I can find videos regarding actually making the rigs up and so just some rig names would suffice without anyone needing to go into too much detail.

Thanks chaps.

Keep it simple, knotless knot hair rig with a small kicker/shrink tube over the eye to aid hook turning. If you want to fish where it is a bit choddy/twigs and sticks a Ronnie Rig with a pop up.
Both rigs can be done with the same coated braid, hooks and shrink tube. A few extra components for the Ronnie on top.

Have fun 👍

All you need is a bottom and pop up rig.
So as above, Knotless Knot (bottom or wafter bait) and Ronnie. (Reset bonus)
You choose one of them for the bottom you're fishing on.
Will catch you anywhere - you don't need anything else, period.
Are you sure?

This action cannot be undone.
