Does anybody still use the parachute bag for weedy venues? its a recommended tactic for a venue I'm going on soon but I haven't used it in years.
it did get me thinking though, do you think this method has now fell out of fashion? if so why? it was actually quite effective!

What is it exactly? Filling PVA bags with foam in order to float the rig to the "bottom"? I've been using that method on a few different venues over the last season or two and it's definitely effective for presentation.

They way i used to do it was with large pellets in solid bags so it traps the air in. But what your saying is essentially the same thing

Can't imagine filling a bag with pellets would make it that slow sinking? If you're doing it for the reason to float it down then do it with foam. No point doing half a job.
I e never used it myself but intend on using it when I'm back on the syndicate. My main reason for using it though is to see if the fish spook less when casting onto shows.

Not so much for the slow sinking property, more so that its holds the rig very high directly above the lead. You would be surprised how buoyant they are. Advantage with it iover foam is you get a nice bit of bait around the rig. The rig also seems to sit on the weed rather than flaten it like with a solid bag. The reason for the pellet is it traps air in the bag, making it boyant. So its important not to put holes in it, like i think most do with solids.

Like anything, you will have to test it ( pva bag company of choice/amount of pellets ) in the margins first to get the slow sinking/bouyant bag effect that you seek.
