In order to help you need to clarify what you are doing and how u tie them?
What bait are u filling them with?
What bags are you using?
What method are you using to tie them? Pva tape? Lick and stick? Fox loader?
You need to be filling them with fine pellets or at least a mix that contains fine crumb like a stick mix base or groundbait. This allow you to really get the bag compact.
Also i find the best way of getting a bag nice and tight is to use pva tape rather than the other methods.
Also i am fussy wirh bags and find that the korda bags (although expensive) are the best as they are very stretchy and you can really get the corners folded super tight.

Mix the groundbait in with the pellets so its all mixed together before adding to the bag.
Tie with pva tape instead
Dont peirce the bag at all, absolutely no need to.
Only time i peirce them is if i inject liquid before i cast but not always.
Also be mindful when using pop ups, if you glugg rhem and critically balance them, the pellets will dry the bait out and make them more bouyant if left for a few days.
Also personally i dont go any bigger than a 12mm hookbait and usually a wafter. But thats not going to put air in the bag. Just thought id add that detail

I regularly make up 80-100 bags for a 4/5 day session using pellets of different sizes and sometimes including a dry stick mix. You'll be absolutely fine a week in advance. If you put a boilie in then in my experience it will start drying out but I wouldn't worry a week ahead about it.
