Other than for weight reasons such as using a plastic bait screw over a metal one to attach a bait to balance it, or blobbing some floss if casting a long distance to ensure a better chance of the bait staying on, what are the reasons for using say a micro swivel over a bait screw and other various attachments for general fishing? To me a bait screw seems much quicker than floss and melting but wasn't sure if I was missing something?

Floss and a micro ring swivel allow for a combination of hookbaits i.e. snowman presentation or adding some plastic to the top of your hookbait. Personally, a floss and blob feels more secure over a bait screw especially for baits like tiger nuts/maples.

Some people still use corkball popups and so might not actually want to pierce the bait.

Those plastic screws with the inserted swivel have a tendency to break. Not all the time, but it's annoying when it happens, especially on a D. No such problem with a small swivel, and as has been said, more versatile. And much cheaper, think the fancy plastic swivel screws are almost an euro with certain brands, lol:P

ring swivel with wafters as a bit of extra weight flossed amd bobbed, micro ring swivel floss and blobbed for pop ups
I use the bait screw swivels, I had a few ebay 1s fall apart but now use the either the Nash or Korda ones and they are both fairly solid (i think 1 has come apart in the past couple of years). I reuse them so your not paying for 1 per rig.
