Got my lead free Heli rig and want to make a hook length to fish a wafter over a silt/chod lake bed.

Is a Ronnie rig on a 25lb Korda boom the best way to do it or is there a better option?

Also could a small pva bag/stick be nicked onto the hook to add a small offering of bait around the wafter?

A couple of other options could be:
Fluorocarbon or mono D-rig
or
German Rig with a tungsten coated braid.

I would happily use either of those, and do when fishing a helicopter setup in silt

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like the German Turbo Rig is a favourite then and I do have some of those tied up.
I will give them a try.

If the wafter rig wasn't working and I wanted to try a pop up would I then swap to a Ronnie?

For me I find a bag no matter how small counter productive if using the rig and wafters to fish over light debris. You are taking such care balancing and no matter what you do with bags (parachute etc) I think it can misbehave.

be sure to check the balance of your wafter over time, literally all the wafters i have used from bait suppliers lose bouyancy over time its well worth making a few rigs at home and tank testing so you know how your bait is looking over time.
Are you sure?
