Hello,

Does anyone know if Mono and Braid breaking strains are the same for the same lb line?

So if using 20lb mono with a 20lb braid hook-link which would break first?
I've heard that braid and mono are both far stronger than the breaking strain suggests.

Any help or info would be great.

Cheers

Mono has more stretch than braid so braid of the same strain will most probably break first
On mono Don't use lb breaking strain use line diameters as hardly any are rated correctly
If you used the same diameters on both mono and braid then mono will go first

So if I'm using 20lb Daiwa sensor mono and 20lb korda dark matter hook-link which is breaking first?
I'm guessing the mono.
Dawia senior 0.43 and I can't find the dimensions for the braid

Cheers

If you are using mono as your mainline, it is usually all things being equal, your mainline to swivel or quicklink knot that breaks first.

Even with a leader, fluorocarbon or shockleader of a heavier strain, it is normally the knot that breaks.

Are you sure?
