I have been using ESP tungsten loaded semi stiff and Jelly wire for ages but I have noticed a problem.I strip the last three inches to form my loop and have a gap by the hook for movement, the issue I'm having is the coating is bunching and moves making the rig look crinkly. Is there a coated braid out there that won't do this or is there a simple solution.

If you strip the coating before cutting what length you want off of the spool it will help

I normally do it that way I have been thinking of a bit of glue at the end where the coating ends. The jelly wire does it less than the ESP,I can get it to straighten out a bit but the rig still looks a bit ****

Small bit of putty/shot where the coating meets the braid?

I use a tungsten sink but maybe a split shot would hold it better

I'd say the obvious solution would be to not strip the loop unless you really want a supple section at both ends of the rig.

It will help prevent tangles, kick the rig away far better on the way down, reset better should you get turned over, and avoid the coating bunching up as you've described.

I only strip it at the hook end to pass the loop through the eye of the hook

No need mate, unless there's some idea behind it. Jellywire's about the only thing I use and a figure 8 knot will sit just fine without stripping anything. Will probably reset better too.

I would give the semi stiff Nash coated a go. You need your own front teeth or a stripper tool to break the coating but it's the toughest coating and heaviest braid I've used. Also available in different weights unlike the ESP and the kevlar braid doesn't fray or lose its colour like the ESP.

I'm on the fence with some of his stuff but I only use the Nash stuff now over the ESP, Jellewire, Korda, Bank Tackle, Kryston and Fox that have gone before
