I listened to someone's advice and bought some korda contour rated at 18lbs. It breaks at 12/13 max.
I liked the idea of it being invisible, so bought some spools fluoro hooklink in 20 and 25 lbs. Testing again with the unster and a puller it breaks at 6,5 kg max.

To put it mildly, WTF?

What are your experiences with fluoro as hooklink and/or leader? Does it even come close to the breakings strains being advertised? On a sidenote, with the same method and plain nylon, coated hooklink or even a 20 year old amnesia everything is as advertised (and more.) I used both an overhand loop as a figure 8, but it breaks clean through, not at the knot.

Bit frustrated:XD

A palomar to a rig ring will probably give the best results. Non slip and rapala for tied loops.
Though to be fair try tying off to some scales and pulling more than 4 or 5lb at the hooklink with a 12ft carp rod at about 20 yards

Google ‘Tackle box' (the Kent retailer) and read their regular line tests. Absolute goldmine of comparative information.

FWIW the best Fluoro mainline I have used was 16lb Tiger line.

I also use Fluoro hooklinks for various fly fishing applications (up to 120lb). In carpy breaking strains the best I have found is Soft Plus. The 19lb version is wonderful.

Yeah, you are all right, pulling on a short piece doesn't compare to actually fishing with it. Then again, the low numbers compared to other materials, with the same "method", got me wondering and doubting a bit. Tx lads!
