Hi , just wondering if the German rig is more efficient with a wafter or a straight bottom bait ?

I would guess it's the same as any normal hair rig, only difference is the bait is tight to the hook.

It's more about if a wafter or bottom bait is more suitable in a certain situation if that makes sense. I use it all the time with wafters but only because they are generally tougher and stay in one piece for longer

all the way for me with wafters not fished a pop up all year at all last year but then again i never needed too, put it this way never lost a fish on the german. Its become my fav rig over the last couple years, strip the hook link back a inch below the hook add putty and it also works as a belting pop up rig too

Bottom baits for me, personal preference as I prefer the weight of the bait to drop the hook down when Mr Carp sucks it in.

Wafter for me. I dont like the lack of separation for bottom baits
