Been using the Korda 25lb boom for my ronnie rigs when fishing over silt.
I recently read an article on how the lead can dive int the silt and cock the stiff boom upwards.
Now especially at this time of the year with lots of leaves and twigs on the bottom got me think it's time for a change.
What hooklength material could I use which will kick the hook away and what length of boom would you recommend for fishing over silt?
Thanks

Just use it on a heli leader and set the bead accordingly!

It's a rig I use a lot in winter on extremely silty lakes, caught shed loads on it with 25lb boom, just make sure there is a good gap on the heli setup between the lead and the bead and your good to go, 1 normally have around 6-12 inches depending on how soft it is.

Sorry if I sound thick but I'm a bit new to carp fishing rigs.
So if I'm understanding this correctly, your tying a length of leader to your mainline then running a ronnie rig which is attached to a 25lb korda boom up the leader between 2 beads?
If thats correct how short is your boom?

You can buy helicopter rigs from a shop if your unsure, if you look on YouTube you can watch informative videos on there how to set it up properly and safely but essentially it's a rig running directly on the mainline/leader via a ring swivel with the lead attached to the end of the mainline/leader, then a bead is set above at your chosen height, I use a boom section of 6.5 inches.
