What's your favourite choice to fish in a solid bag. Pop up or bottom bait?
I'm thinking a single piece of fake corn but pop up or slow sinking? and which hook pattern would favour each method.
Thanks

Bottom bait or balanced bait all day long for me as it is in the pile of bait not over it.
I know lots of people fish pop ups and catch but I'd prefer bait on the deck with the loose feed

I dont use solid bags too often, but when I do, i always use a single piece of slow sinking fake corn and usually do pretty well with them

Wafter in a bag has been brilliant for me In the past rather it being in the bait not above it.

Bottom bait . And a real bait not a bit of plastic. Sat nicely on the pile of food and not waving about above it

Always used a bottom bait and never thought about changing until this Spring when I was watching fish feed in the margins, these were big fish too 25lb to 40lb,
I put a pva bag out with my normal bottom bait, I could see the bag melt and a nice little pile of bait, first fish came in and the pile sort of exploded, fully expected to see my rod rip off but nothing? I could see my pile of bait had been spread over about 6 to 8 inches and the hookbait lay there, it was as if the fish had sucked and blown the bait everywhere.
Watched this happen twice more as I thought it was a fluke , I then changed to a critically balanced bottom bait , first fish in went down to the pile of bait and was hooked immediately, can only think they were sucking and blowing the pile of bait so quickly that it spread it everywhere, anything heavy like my initial bottom bait and bigger pellet got left behind, and anything light was sucked up .

Since wafters have been about there has been nothing else in one of my bags, but i'm quite tempted to try the corn I must admit

I have had a lot of success with a UB baits 10x14 bobber and a size four wide gape on a short braided hook length, has out fished other rigs for me this year.

I use either a low pop up, balanced wafter on a German rig, or a or kd rig with shot on the hair. All three have their day.
