Hi all

I'm going to be changing over to loop and boom rig as everyone on my lake seems to use the Ronnie rig.

Is the loop and boom rig designed for wafters , bottom baits or both?

What is a loop and boom rig?

Whatever it is, there are no rules. Tie one up, play with it and see how it reacts. Use it and see what hook holds look like. Make small tweeks and look how they change how it reacts, and you will end up with a rig tied perfectly for your fishing situation and for the fish you are fishing for.

Its another load of cobblers pushed by tackle companies, fish it as a bottom or pop up rig, you can get the same effect with a decent coated braid slightly stripped.

completely disagree, you cannot compare a coated braid unstripped to a proper stiff boom and soft braid loop. That said reason I use combi rigs (Gemini booms and my own supernatural loops) is that the booms last forever, all you need to do is make up some loop sections and change that if hook has gone. Much straighter than a coated braid, 100% times better for tangles also. The movement is also no where near as good with a coated braid as the coated part is never stiff enough and the braid part is never supple enough.

combi rigs been used for decades, only now the process has been made a lot easier. what's the issue?

can be used with all types of bait . just put a shot on the loop for the pop up. easy as that.I use a 1 inch shrink tube kicker and leave another inch of supple braid before looping onto boom
