Evening,
In what situation/lake bed type would you use a more rigid fluro boom
And same for when would you choose to use a more supple coated braid hook length
Both with a ronnie set up
Cheers

Stiffy flat hard bottom , supple not flat
blends in to contours

Depends on the lead system.
You can get away with stiff on a heli even over dirty ground.
On a lead clip the stiff stuff should be kept for the cleanest of substrates.

Cheers guys,
So the lake I'm fishing is really weedy right now, there are clearer patches but I still want to use the ronnie just so I know it should be presenting on top of the weed,
Would you suggest I stick with the more subtle boom??

If you're fishing clear spots but just want that added safety net then I'd go with a stiff boom fished on a heli with the top bead shifted up a bit. If you're on a lead clip defo go for a more supple link.

Have a look at Danny Fairbrasses Master class dvd 'fishing weedy waters', he uses a stiff boom on a helicopter rig and shows how it works in that situation.
