What's the best hook pattern for a spinner rig? I've seen people use wide gapes and curve shanks. Which would be best?
When fishing with a stiff boom section using crimps, do you cut the ring off the ring swivel like Tom dove does?
I've never fished with one before, always used bottom baits but would like to try something different lol

I use either the curve shank hooks and Nash claw hooks and use the swivel with both the ring still on the swivel and without

Gardner mugga hooks are tops for this rig. I like to use the continental version in size 2 as it's nice and heavy and get my rig sitting perfectly on the eye of the hook.

Muggas for me also. I use size 4

Most people will use a curved shank hook of some kind, as it creates a sort of 'claw' shaped rig that helps with hooking mechanics, but if you look on the likes of youtube or instagram you may see people such as darell peck using a wide gape hook and set up slightly different, which works for him. So its a matter of confidence and trying out for yourself, both types will work.
And also, shouldn't this thread be in the rigs section?
