Does anyone use the FG knot for attaching mono/fluoro leaders to braided mainlines?
I have used it whilst sea fishing but not seen it used much for carp...

its pretty bulky, generally but with lower BS line and a leader, cant see why it cant be used. Its a awesome knot if tied correctly.

The FG knot is as streamlined a knot as they come - Are we talking about the same knot?
I'm not sure how well it would handle repeated casting...

I use it for GT fishing with 200lb fluro and 120lb braid. Hence a bit bulky but I did say for light lines it could be a good knot.
In the combo just mentioned, we cast massive top water lures all day without issue.
FG-PG knot probably not common due to time it takes to tie. Smart knots though

I used it in Belize for tropical lure fishing and on return have used it on Fluro leader to braid mainline (25lb fluro and 22lb Gardner brain mainline).
Havent used the braid set up much (lake rules), but the benefit i saw was the slim knot size (due to no doubled over section of fluro) and the fact it could be reeled through the rings.
Suspect it was designed more for a bigger difference in diameter, but i tested it to destruction with the above materials and was at least as strong (and i suspect a fair bit stronger, though couldnt back that up quantitively) as the standard knots (shockleader knot, back to back uni knot, albright etc).
I used it all day in Belize, tossing lures around for jacks, Cudas. no issues with continued casting and certainly held up well keeping fish more powerful that carp out of a coral reef!

its a great knot isnt it Tim. Ive cast it all day with massive top water lures without issue. very neat when mastered how too tie it. Great for a much smaller dia to be joined to a higher dia leader. FG - PG with a rissuto finish
