Re-Using Sinkers/Tungsten Beads (11 posts / 1,670 views)

I've recently started using Thinking Anglers Tungsten beads on my german rigs. I really like how user friendly they are and even if its just a confidence thing I feel that they help my rigs hooking potential.

I'm not a massive fan of putty or shot as an alternative. I am a little ocd and dont find these to look neat enough hence changing over to these beads.

Has anyone come across a way to re use these? Is there a way to get them back onto the original wire tool they come on? I'm not tight but at £3.99 for 9 I'd like to get at least a couple of uses out of them. I have heard it mentioned that using a small splicing needle can be a way of doing this. Has anyone any experience trying this or any other methods?

Thanks in advance lads

I use a needle and put them onto fishing line by threading it through the eye

Thinking Anglers splicing needle is perfect for re-using them, never put em back on the wire though, just pop em in a little tub and re use when required.... They hardly lose any grip either, great little things

I thread used sinkers onto some thin trace wire I'd otherwise be using for pike fishing. Works really well.

Warm them up before the second time you use them.

I just poke them back on the thin wire they come on. The mono/ flouro hooklengths I use them on have a larger diameter than the wire so no issues with them gripping or moving

How do you get them back in there? Isn't the wire is too flimsy to push it back through?

No mate, just pinch the wire together and straighten it out. Then just gently tease it back on. If you have issues then you can thread them on a fine needle and back on to the wire. One of the best little bits of kit I've used in recent times, love them

Thanks for the advice mate. I'm very impressed with them and will definitely be using them more often going forward
