Is it best to critically balance your Ronnie or do you overweight the counterweight putty , thanks ? Also has anyone tried a Ronnie with a tied on cork ball pop up via a ring instead of a micro ring swivel , thanks ?

Overweight it, otherwise it'll be wafting around too much.
Also helps to pull hook down into carps bottom lip.
I prefer to use a micro ring bait screw or micro ring hook ring swivel to attach the bait.

Just to. Confuse you 🤣 I critically balance mine. I want it flying up in the Carps mouth if it so much as thinks about sucking it in

A bit over weight, don't want it dancing around when there moving about

Thanks for that . I have been using them slightly overweighted with putty but was wondering whether using ESP's tungsten Ronnie beads might be better . Obviously though I wouldn't have the same degree of control over the weight with these and would probably be heavier . The reason for asking about the ring as opposed to a micro ring swivel is that I use CC Moore's live system and I don't find their cork dust pop ups overly buoyant. I thought of maybe using their corkball pop ups but my club only allows for corkballs to be tied on and not pierced , thanks .

I used the Ronnie and now the multi rig and have found both benefit with a slight over weighing usually a tungsten bead with a small amount of Krystons heavy metal putty and drop em on the hook length.

I just had an interesting idea (some will probably explain why it is stupid idea).
I wondered has anyone used a small bottom bait treaded on the hooklink and pulled up against the ring swivel instead of using putty, weights, beads.
Think the benefits would be added flavor, the boilie would hide the bottom of the hook from fish approaching from certain directions. Looks more natural on bottom than a weight.
Disadvantages would be that over time it's takes on water, so rig progressively becomes more over weighted. As long as not to big a bait used I don't see it hindering the mechanics.
In terms of having an extra bait for the fish to pickup I am not sure what kind of hook hold would get when fish pickups up the bottom bait on the hooklink. Any ideas?
But we have all probably caught the odd fish from it mouthing the putty/bead instead of the popup without us even realising.
