Very supple coated braids? (14 posts / 2,876 views)

I've almost run out of my ESP tungsten soft and am looking to replace it with another very supple coated braid. The ESP stuff is the perfect suppleness, but I have found that the coating does fracture fairly easily. I would also like the brown to be a slightly lighter tone to match the clay bottom of my new syndicate.

A couple that I would love to hear feedback on is the Gardner Super Soft Ultra skin, or the TA Camsoft.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Where was the coating fracturing Steve, I never had an issue with the coating when I was using it but am sure someone else mentioned this? 4 Turn grinner at the swivel for me.

I don't have rigs in the lake for long periods so did wonder if it happens after prolonged submersion?

Have to say I've been very impressed with it and the semi-stiff version, use it in silt colour over all substrates.

Can't help with the other products, sorry.

Hydro link micro is worth a look for that kind of presentation
I tend to just buy the green one and rub a bit of sediment in it to change the colour

Cheers Duggs, that's a good shout. I think I may even have a spool in the garage that I'd forgotten about 👍

I used hydrolink exclusively for years, but I find I'm using the extreme or micro versions more now. I can't be arsed with coated braids anymore.

cant rate the TA braid enough.

i use the tungskin for margin work as it lays over the lake bed lovely.
i use the camskin as well and its just as supple.

I picked up a spool of the Spotted Fin soft stuff and I'm well impressed. Straightens nicely, nice and supple, and the coating doesn't break too easily as I found with the ESP soft.

been experimenting with Gardner Vigilante, interesting material with the waxy coating over the braid might be worth a look.

👍🏻 Glad you liked it , never hear anyone mention it
It's as good as anything else IMO
I tend to use soft hook links and go up in diameter if I want it stiffer rig
If that makes sense😂
