Tied up quite a few rigs lately i.e. Ronnies and Germans. Like the way the swivels give plenty of movement to the hookbait and greatly aid the anti eject effect.

Do any of you use a swivel type set up when tying method feeder rigs using a size 10 hook for instance or is that size of hook to small to use a swivel on?

The traditional match style uses a hair type set up with a bait band, or bait spike etc. trapped to the shank with a small piece of silicone of course but is this the best set up when fishing the method feeder?

I love using method feeder, used it a long time ago with great success and now the last few years almost exclusively method again. I use the Avid feeders, swivel to braid hooklink (ESP anchor) on the whole, with a curve shanked hook, which as as of the last 2 years has been the Korda Crank, size 6 (I think the Crank is a smaller pattern of hook re sizes hence the 6, normally it would be a 8.
I will fish standard hair rigs but lately have changed over to the hair being on a hook ring, hooklink either so short it will not tangle on the cast outside the paste, or 2 or 3" longer so I can fold it back on itself and bury it in the paste.
In France I did very well with a size 4 crank with a 10mm pop up over the method.
From personal experience I would advise using a hook size relevant to the fish size you are targeting, small hooks can slip on bigger fish.
Short stiff links can also be very effective with MF.

Great reply and very informative thanks. I'll tie up some hooklengths and give it a go.

Are you fishing a bottom bait or a wafter on the size 6 Krank?

I use all sorts tbh. I don't tend to fish dedicated wafters as I've always used 1/2 & 1/2 butterflied bottom and pop ups (yes old fashioned), dumbell as is or with the top 1/4 taken off and replaced with a pop up stick topper, bottom baits nearly always butterflied again, or dedicated pop up either weight restricted or straight off the method, boile cores as pellets, or anything that takes my fancy, corn, cockles, the list is endless.
Are you sure?
