Looking around my club lake today and having a play with the deeper i found a group of fish in the deepest part, 32ft about 4-6 ft off bottom

Never having used zigs before ive set one up using a fox surface bubble float, the type you fill with water, will it do tje job or am i missing something?

Ive got a 2ft mono hook length to a swivel going into the float then out the other side a big bead and a length of leadfree leader with a big ring attached then a quick link and a lead

Hope that makes sense, can put a pic up if i figure it out.

I got all clipped up to them today and hopefully I'll go tomorrow and sling one out at them, for all i know could be big roach, there are quite a few in there!

Why the length of leadfree? I'd personally go straight through with your mono, one less point of failure.

Also I'm not sure the bubble floats are meant for submerging too far down, especially at 30+ ft. It may be alright for 30 mins or so but could potentially crack from the pressure. I've had this happen on pike sub floats before.

Just to keep it off the bottom really, same as id use for a marker float

Hmm well it would be at about 25ft down, ive not got anything else to use

Keep it simple. Just fish a standard zig between 6-10 ft. No float, no fuss. Plenty how to's on th net. Good luck.

Agree. Adjustables come in to their own at 12 ft + but less than that they're just hassle imo. Standard zigs are so much easier to use.

The zig follows the lead on the cast mate, it's all about the drop from tip to lead. You'd have the same problem with adjustables.

Yeah that makes sense actually, I'll see how it goes in the morning

I would rather adjustable as they were sitting between 4 and 6 foot so I'll start at 4 and can just increase to 5,6

Whats the best lead set up, running or lead clip?

Thanks 👍

I always use an inline. Long tail rubber above the lead, no tubing and a long anti tangle tube below the lead. I have found this is the most tangle free set up. Make sure you feel it down on a tight line.
