Want to tie some pop up rigs for fishing fake corn over a pva stick.

Whats the best rig to use for this method please. And what hooks, mainline etc. do I need.

Thanks

Yep. KD probably best for this. Been using Korda Kranks lately that seem to be very good. Curve shanks will work well too.

If you are going to insist on using fake baits then please use barbless hooks. As much as I hate the things due to mouth damage its the only way to use fake baits without leaving a possible death trap out in the event of a crack off etc

Fish lead systems like a well designed helicopter system or the hit and run systems of PB products. If you get a crack off, the carp will end up only the the hook link.

But it's still a permanently fishing rig. A few years back I landed a small common with a rig baited with fake pellet, and towing a big branch about. That was enough to put me off for life. They should be banned imo

Thanks for the input lads. I've tied a few KD rigs up. If the fake corn is a problem then I can easily swap it for a pop up.

Just as an after thought. Would this rig work just as well if tied with Korda I.Q.2 in maybe 10lb or 12lb?

That's something that could happen when tigers or other baits as well.
Responsible fishing is for everyone and with every bait or lead set up. 😉

Other baits decompose/rot/get nibbled away by smaller fish/crays etc, plastics don't. I agree that responsibke angling is a must, hence my opinion ( and many, many others) that fake baits should be banned

Is the responsibke a new method, or a rehash of an old one?

I agree on that but the time required to nibble away a tiger or pop up is rather high. I assume that the rig will be picked up before the bait is gone. For example, tigers or ccmoore pop ups last for days on a hair.

But okey, this discussion should take extreme measures.

It's not extreme measures, it's responsible angling! Thankfully more and more people are seeing it this way these days.
