Foam in aligners has been my go to for many years but time to mix it up. Not fishing a water I'll get enough bites to experiment so looking for some pointers from anyone who's done the experimenting with pop ups.

Pop up coming off eye, shank or bend? Hook style? Length of hair or tight to hook? That sort of thing.

I've used small and cut-down pop ups and have never found them to be as effective as foam. I mounted them the same as I do foam (I don't use zig aligners); size 6 wide gape type pattern, very short hair off the shank.
I'd stick with foam mate.

The only boilie that i have had any real success with as a zig bait (on a water where any artificial bait is banned) was a cut down unflavoured pjpu 11mm black one

Size 6 or 8 hook (i prefer a straight point for zigs) on a very short hair straight off of an 8 turn knotlesss knot. Ive tried others but foam has always worked more for me

I use pop ups a lot, prefer to use curv type hooks, 8 turn knot, hair 5mm max longer than diameter of bait. normally cut pop up to barrel shape.
Are you sure?
