ive got a small lake on a new ticket im on, its long and narrow only about 3acre narrow at one end opens up at the far end goes from about 2ft to 7ft
Thick with pads at the shallow end all the way down untill it opens up then its thick with Canadian.

This kind of lake is new to me and i went today and had a lead around and play with the deeper pro, it seemed to be clearer at the deeper end over the back of the Canadian not by much didnt really feel confident in presenting a rig.

The fish seemed to be in the weed which was about 3ft off the bottom.
Its quite low stock only about 20 fish, and by the time id had a lead about and chucked the deeper about i thought id probably ruined any chance i might have had as i was there a couple hrs thrashing about, so didnt fish it.

Now im left wondering how best to fish it, so any advice would be welcomed!

Im either thinking solid bags over the back of the weed, naked chods set 4ft up the line bang in the middle of the weed or something else?
Clear a spot in the Canadian maybe before fishing it?

The lilly area is pretty thick, there are some open areas now its dying back but couldn't drag a lead through at all

Help! Haha

Honestly, just fish mate. Try everything you mentioned, none of it sounds strange. I've been struggling on my lake for two seasons because I was too preoccupied with how others would do it. Drew my own plan this season and started catching like crazy while everyone was struggling. Every lake has its own peculiarities.

the boarder between the pads and the weed would be my starting point. A small lake i fished for a while with big groups of pads and mixed weed either side always fished best if you could find a small clear spot between the two. Just be prepared for some hard battles!

Find the fish and go from there, no point making plans if they don't suit, once you find feeding fish your know at least one place to fish, what it's like there and then decide on your approach.

another option ...
find a area that is very little fished and trickle bait in regularly , the fish will find it and over a short time will clear the weed themselves allowing you to present fine.

You could always rake a non favoured area and trickle bait in and keep your eyes on it!

Yes the rake is a great idea , I always like to fish to pads as I know carp will hold up in them , you will get runs but be prepared to also lose a few fish. If there are only twenty fish present have you not considered stalking them .

Trickling the bait into an area will get the fish visiting that area.

solid bags over the back of the weed..... naked chods set 4ft up the line bang in the middle of the weed..... Clear a spot in the Canadian.....

All of the above mate. Standard weed tactics
