I wonder if any of you guys could help me out here

For some time I've been using Nash sliding beads from their helicopter kits which are great straight through using mono. The problem I've got is that they're very soft and the line cuts into them. If you're fishing straight through like I am on mono, what are you using or if you've got an alternative to what I'm using for beads, could you give me a heads up?

I use Korda line saver beads on the bottom and a sinker with any 6mm bead pushed onto it. Another alternative to the top bead is to push a splicing needle through a bead sideways and put straight onto your mainline then you can add putty into the holes to sink the line.

I've been using any 6mm beads, mine are from eBay years ago.

A bead and spaghetti I used to use years ago
as the spaghetti went soft it was safe

Hi Spen

Is this with mono? If so, have you noticed any chaffing on your line using what you describe?

I was doing exactly the same as what you mention and decided to ditch it as it was less expensive just to use the beads from Nash.

I use the large Nash tungsten sinkers with the Korda no trace split beads. Works fine.

Korda line safe beads, does what it says on the tin. Barrel bead with a small added section to stop line damage when playing a fish. I use a fluoro leader with them so the same applies to straight through.

I normally just push a small length of tubing 3cm max into one of them buffer sleeves that pushes over the leads swivel or eyelet. Hooklink swivel sits over it when playing a fish.

EDIT for a top bead I just use a largish drennan float stop with a large bore bead pushed over it.
Are you sure?
