Anyone use a Ronny on the deck with a bottom bait or waster?

Turbo German rig is near enough that. It just doesn't have the extra ring for less movement

Kinda. Not a bottom but a wafter (close enough!).

Was actually a mistake, meant to put a pop up on, but at 5am I picked the wrong pot.

Worked just fine with the one I caught.

Would I deliberately fish it like this? Probably not, but only because I've tended to keep my bottom/wafter rigs dead simple - just a simple 'Parrot Rig'

Been using something similar for years.. I guess it's called a German rig set up 🤷🏻‍♂️
Basic snowman set up on a combi.. or straight through

Started using this with a wafter and catch rates have increased. I noticed the fish rearing up to feed and feeding really delicately so wanted a bait on the shank, wasn't go to keep the ring on but did and worked better than German. Use it with stiff coated hooklink but half of coating stripped at the hook end so it flies up even easier and so they dont feel the resistance until its too late. Last outing produced 4 fish. All others have blanked last 2 weekends. Although my homemade bait now dominating the water has a lot to do with that 😉

I use the Ronnie with bottom baits, wafters and pop ups. No trouble with any of the baits👍

If using bottom baits/wafters I prefer to use the 'Turbo German' cause the hook can't fold back on itself which it can with the Ronnie
