Hi Guys,

What is the most consistent rig you've used for

1. Bottom bait
2. Wafter
3. Pop up

I haven't used pop ups much so can't say i'm confident in anything in particular but bottom bait rig is usually a combi rig tied to a Longshank

Mugga, knotless knot, does the lot.

Med curve shank hook with a blowback ring and a stiff coated hooklink with 10mm stripped back from the hook should do all those

A standard knotless knot rig with a line aligner does the lot.

Most rigs are fashion

That's the one. Just add split shot for a pop up. Usually use a wide gape pattern hook and uncoated braid.

We have slightly different choices in hooklink materials and hooks as sometimes I use coated braid with a stripped section, and sometimes a combi-rig; Amnesia to uncoated braid.

My hook choice is a Gardner Mugga or Solar 101.

The water I have been fishing is hard bottomed, not much silt, but if when I move onto my new water next week, more silt and weed, I may find I need to go to the uncoated braid.

Halfcentury and I have found our preferences work for us, suit our fishing, so both choices are right. Play around to see what works best for you.

Exactly. The longer I fish, the simpler my rigs get. They work with my angling in the waters I fish. Keep an open mind, but keep it simple, easy for me.

10 inches of mono with a Chod Twister knotless knotted with either a straight bottom bait or a popup/bottom bait as a wafter, this doesn't sit like a snowman.

If you're new to fishing and want a simple set up, have a look at gemini carp tackle and their fluro Ronnie rigs. You just have to add a hook and a small piece of shrink tubing and you've got a really good pop up. The beauty is that you don't have to think too much about the rig mechanics as it is what it is.

As for bottom/water, gemini do a combi rig as well. You can tie a supple piece of hook link to the end which will work for both occasions.
