Hi all. I am relatively new to carp fishing. In a few months I am going to France. On there rules is says no leaders. What are leaders are they the same as hair rigs. Sorry if I sound stupid, im still learning.
Thanks

What you need to do is use mainline straight through either naked or with tubing.

Leaders are an abrasion resistant length of line that you attach to your mainline and then mount your end tackle on. Usually made from lead core, a lead free alternative or flourocarbon. Some fisheries ban them for fish safety reasons. If this is the case then fish a thick mono like 20lb straight through or if you need to cast then use a tapered mainline. A lot also specify that you use tubing to protect the flanks of the carp although I've never seen line lift scales personally. 15lb mainline and tubing is probably your best bet. Can't fish helicopter rigs easily on tubing though. Asking questions is not stupid. Better to ask than to proceed with ignorance.
