ive been using this a while now. mostly stripping to just on the eye

however for various reasons ive recently used it straight through. Im catching. anyone else use it that way?

it seems heavy handed, there isn't much movement and its thick and dark and bombproof. i used it that way on a runs water with smaller fish, short hooklink and hair to stop them peeing about. and it worked.

quite aggressive looking rig
with a size 4 widegape and a boilie tight to the shank and now Ive had a good fish out of my club on it.

I used to use snakeskin in a similar way. I'd just strip the hair and leave the rest of the length with full coating.

It worked well, never really had any reason to change but jist have over the years.

Can't say I don't like it because I have caught plenty of fish on it but even though its tungsten loaded it still loops up after a while

Great rig. Really no need for anything more complicated than that.

Its similar to a flour D rig rig in mechanics really.

Brilliant rig.

Why the silicone on the shank out of interest? Does it improve the rig?

Nothing flapping around and resistant to nuisance creatures so its always fishing.

Great rig, less is more

I use the same rig almost exactly, just with a longer hair, the beauty of the silicone is if a fish takes the rig in and blows it out the silicone will always be rammed right back down to the eye. I use this short in the margins and have watched numerous fish take it in rarely are they not immediately hooked. Another thing I do to improve the mechanics is a weight (fox BB pop up weight) about 2" from the hook , like the German rig .
