I have a Crayfish/Birdlife issue on my lake and invariably the corkballs come in battered in the morning, so on the last session I tried using the Korda shrink wrap. I just wondered peoples thoughts on it as it works very well but where the little blighters get hold of it the edges start to stick out and are quite rough, wondering if this could possibly lead to maybe a quicker ejection by Mr Carp or am I worrying about nowt?

Abit off the topic but listening to a baitworks podcast today at work and a fella had the same problems with crays and he would buy wooden balls soak them in liquid and oil and said it eliminated the problem with them taking the bait of the rig.
He also mentioned that they don't like the cell

Carp don't mind but if you worried use a smaller piece of wrap. This results in a part of the boilie that isn't protected by the shrink wrap. If that bothers you, then you double wrap it to get the result as shown at the link.

Another way of thinking is that the jagged edges of the wrap could help the bait and therefore hook catch in the mouth and help with ejection

Thanks for the replies chaps.

@#2 I've tried the wooden balls but they are a pain to fish as pop-ups so abandoned that idea

@#3 I have been wrapping them with two thinner pieces so the bait isn't fully covered and bulges out of the gaps when it swells, which I liked because of the possible increased attraction but maybe I should actually try bigger pieces so the bait is fully covered as in the pics, hmm....

@#4 I was thinking that also but wasn't sure hence the post, interesting point and was what I hoped someone would say

When I've used it I over size/cut the wrap so when it shrinks down I trim the ends with a scalpel blade, I do this both ends but before I shrink the second one down I put it on the hair so it shrinks down over the hair stop 👍

I tried this once and reeled it in bait was half gone and the wrap was that severely chewed and pulled it looked an close up of an ice crystal, sharp and horrible... In the bin it went, not for me... Tried the wooden balls, but the rapid change in buoyancy was just a pain.. Now just bit the bullet and use entirely the rubber enterprise eternal boilies, when needed.... Have them in a dip matching my baits, now have total faith in them, and no problems from the krays whipping them off.... Bouyancy remains constant... 👌🏻

‘Sharp and horrible' is a good description.

That's good to know because I tried the ESP imitation boilies and they couldn't hold up anything bigger than a size 10, in the bin they went.

I do put a bit of fake corn on the pop ups to boost bouyancy a bit... or a thin slice of foam sometimes, the krays can nibble that away a bit, but sometimes it's nice to know what's happening down there... For baiting up purposes etc....

Just had a look at them they look spot on. The ESP ones put me off fake baits completely but these look good, also looks as though you could insert some cork if needed, Im ordering some

They certainly do aid from a bit of assistance to get em up lol.... Only a little though, and you don't need putty, which the krays also love 😂

Drill them out and put a bit of cork or zig foam in them 😉🤫
