I haven't fihed for a few years now.
When I did, I used to always fish with the hooklink a lower strength than the mainline.
These days I have been seeing more instances of a higher breaking strain hooklink rather than mainline.
What's the reasoning behind this? I can understand the reasoning behind weaker hooklink but not behind having a stronger hooklink.
Help please

Due to the properties that thicker/stronger hook links exhibit for me personally. Plus a 10lb braid for instance is like piano wire and could cut into a carp cheeks/face/lips in a lively fight.
My reasons for using a thicker/stronger hooklink anyway.

Like for like b.s. the braid is very thin and likely to cause damage to fishes mouths in a prolonged fight. A supple braid with a thicker diameter is more likely to be successful and fish friendly.
