Morning all, I've used feeders in the past on rivers and in matches but never really tried them in carp fishing. I was thinking of trying out the Matrix open feeders, plenty of bait and pellet around them with a six inch hooklink size eight hook and a 12mm bait. Just wanted to know if people have used this sort of method and to what effect.
Just trying to buy a few bites during the day, the lake im going to try it on has very few Bream but does hold a few decent size Tench.
thanks

Part of the inspiration for the first incarnations of the inline method feeder for bigger carp back in 1996, was the "cupping" technique devised by Chris Turbull, as described in one of his tench fishing book. It sounds similar to what you are suggesting.
Even Chris Turbull didn't know that.

Method feeders, very overlooked, work a treat. Personally I used Avid Method Feeders with a very sticky paste, have used it with a drier mix including micro pellet, very similar to match fishing feeder tactics.
Having said that I made it all up, stay away from stringers too, they don't work either, and pellets on a stringer...don't even go there, the Carp will throw them back at you
