I allow the leader to settle so not 'off bottom' and found using tight clutches, virtually locked up on small 1-2oz leads with booms, sharp hooks etc. nailed most fish (bouncy bites).
First set-up on leadcore, fished over debris (thick leaves, small branches etc.) at 30m - 80m (dif spots) - semi-tight, slack or tight?
Second set-up, naked Chod on flourocarbon, in amongst 3ft Canadian - not over 60m. Semi, slack or tight for best indication ?

Best for indication will always be tight with an inch or two drop on the bobbin. That doesn't mean it's the best way to get a bite in every situation. If it's open water with no snags I would fish your chods semi slack that should allow your rig to present nicely and still give enough indication your end. Fishing a chod at 80 yards into 3ft of weed you would want to fish a tighter line. If it's possible I would try and find a clear area around the weed and do away with the chod and use a normal rig on a leadclip or heli allowing you to fish a much tighter line without it affecting your rig. I don't like fishing chods at range in the weed it could be pulled into the weed quite easily so I tend to stay away if I can find clearer areas especially at range.

Cheers Jimbo, that's mainly how I've been fishing it with a weighted bobbin. I've just had a look at a Nash vid from 2014 about this issue. They have a diver yanking the line up, down, left and right, bow string gives little indication unless looking for drop backs against snags etc. which is also what I was doing. Slack lines make sense in the margins but there's not that much pressure on the waters I fish.
Got a helisafe system on the leadcore and there's a boat if all else fails, it's like a rainforest from June onwards.

Never tight with a chod unless at super big range. Tend to fish them as slack as possible when I can, I'd rather suffer with poorer bite indication and have more of a chance of it being presented as good as possible certainly when fishing over weed of any sort.. I tend to use with 18lb flurocarbon straight through.

Semi slack with any heli rig for me - long drop your bobbins so that all the weight is taken up by the hockey stick rather than the bobbin head
