Which knot do people use for the hook end of the boom?? Some form of loop or a grinner or something similar? When using Korda boom or mouth trap I krimp but from what I understand as long as the shrink tubing or kicker isn't over the barrel then the rig already has a ton of movement and rotation so a loop is unnecessary

If you are tying it to the ring of the swivel no need to have a loop so tie it direct to that. If you are cutting the ring swivel off you will need to form a loop in the boom material via krimp or a loop knot (fig8) if using coated braids, ect. There is loads of videos on youtube, tom dove does a good one on the spinner/ronnie rig

Cheers buddy I leave the ring intact, so will go with a grinner or something like that

Yeh just tie it straight to ring mate. Either krimp if possible or use what ever knot you are comfortable with. I use a palomar knot but any decent knot will do

I tie em up in a couple diff materials one for harder bottoms one for softer and the coated braids I use aren't crimp friendly so will try palomar

Palomar knot is a great knot. Really easy to tie and so strong cause it has 2 pieces of line passing through the ring giving you double the strength. Make sure you wet the knot well and tease it down slowly or it will bunch up the coating.

I just tie a loop in the boom so I can loop to loop it to the ring swivel that way I can change the hook sections quickly after a fish.

if you're using boom then crimp it ultra tight to the ring. nice and neat.

I use a grinner for ronnie booms as I find the length of the knot handy for moulding the putty around.

Palomar for everything else
Are you sure?
