So how long would you leave made up solid bags as I have a few left over from my last session that obviously won't be used for some time.
If they are kept dry I can't see any reason why they wouldn't be OK. Would you be confident in using them in say 2, 3 or 4 months time?

Yes
I have some permanently in a bucket ready to go
They just take longer to break down

If you have quite a few made up then why not test one the day before you go. Obviously you'l loose that one but its better than sitting behind rods with bags that dont melt for hours
The water I fish I would never take the risk that a 20p bag would screw up a bait well placed on a spot by not breaking down as it should.
I think only have 3 or 4 leftovers, so it's no biggie really. On reflection I think I'd be confident in the PVA melting normally, but suspect the pellets might clump & pack around the hookbait which would spoil the presentation. I will hang on to them & sacrifice one in a couple of months to see how it behaves.
I have pre-made mesh bags that i can add some extra liquid attractant to them to speed up the melting if they have been sat around too long due to limited fishing visits.
I make solid bags up as and when needed.

Depends what's in 'em.
e.g. how much oil the pva is absorbing.

I had 6 bags left over leading up to a trip early March, they'd been tied back end of November, upon checking one of them in the edge I found that the high salt content had an aggressive effect on my inline drop off swivel to a point I wouldn't use any of them! Not saying this would be the case in every situation but it made me rethink leaving them for such long periods it's just not worth it imo.

So, nine weeks since I made them up, I dropped one in the sink to see how it behaved.
Bag melted inside two mins & the pellets didn't clump together as I thought they might. The hook bait is very slightly discoloured but wafting out of the pellets as I'd hoped.
I'd be more than happy to use the others from the same batch.
