Looking for some advice on what hook works best with the Blowback rig? Wide gape or something like a long shank twister?
Thanks

I'm a big fan on wide gapes but make the hook more aggressive using a kicker / shrink tube or small silicone tube. Just so it turns and takes hold better. I also prefer a more free moving rig ring over a silicone trapped hair.
Just personal preference.

Long shank twister with a korda kicker is my go to combination for a blowback rig but will be trying the esp trig hammer this year as it looks like it might work without the kicker.

I've started using the size 6 trig hammers with a ring opposite the barb. 10 mm of silicon over the eye turns it in a bit. I haven't caught a carp after November on my water in 3 years, so not the best time to test.
Trig hammers come up big, I never usually go higher than a 4, but the 4's are big. They're a light hook too, bit flexy compared to a mugga.
Time will tell, but I'm not expecting a bite until March!

I've got a few tied up of these mate with a small piece of shrink tube and there brilliant. Also tried them today against kamakura wide gapes on a runs water. 7 fish to 1 for the Korda hooks, Both on the same pop up 4ft apart and were used on Ronnie rig set-up. the hook holds we're better on the kamakura hooks and a lot better in my opinion Set further back every time and deep holds.
ESP was re-useable though.

Same here. I like a wide gape. I seem to loose too many with Muggas.
