Been fishing slack lines and light running leads for while now and really took to it but still seem to get the odd tangle so do you think its the lead running back which could be causing this l always feather the cast, the reason l ask l've moved onto another venue now and would like to fish the far margin still on a running set up but with a tight line it's about 60/70 yard cast, seems to tangle more if l use a small stick or any PVA at all.
Any advise welcome

Are you using lead clips? If you use big bags and small leads you will often lose the lead when it hits the water. I would use a helicopter set up and as small a bag as possible.

The fox PVA Rapide system is good, rig and lead go in the bag, a short rig length is best but is neat and tidy and casts well.

its not the bag being heavier than the lead - the bag drags in the air allowing the lead to travel further up the line.

You can tie the lead with a bit of PVA tape to stop it moving on the cast.

No l'm not using a lead clip l'm using a enterprise tackle snag safe running clip with a Korda run ring rubber the one with the shoulder so the rig sits at a nice angle well this is how l set up with slack line but now going to fish abit further distance against the far margin so with the water been deep in the middle l want to fish a tight line but with the same set up thinking it will still give me better bite indication than a standard lead clip or helicopter set up

It may not specifically be the weight of the bag being heavier but a bigger lead will carry the "drag" a lot better and stop the lead being pulled up the line.

It was something we noticed years ago casting deadbaits out for pike and then when the pva mesh bags first came onto the market.

If you fish bags with small leads then pva will do the job as will a bigger lead

l would like to use a small PVA stick just enough to mask the hook so do you think using a bigger lead would be my better, l watched abit of carp fever where Kevin maddocks was fishing upto a island and was sliding is lead onto a bit of tubing making it semi fixed which was quite interesting and maybe stop any tangles.
Anyway thanks for all the replies

What you've described Maddocks doing was how most us semifixed
our leads back in the 80'-early 90's. It's also pretty much how I still set
up now.
